Draft EIS
Preparation Underway

The FAA and its EIS Contractor are currently preparing the Draft EIS for the proposed developments at the Tucson International Airport. Specific components underway include the Purpose & Need and Alternatives Chapters, as well as various technical analyses for the EIS.

About the Project

Project Description

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has decided to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) addressing specific improvements at the Tucson International Airport. As presently conceived, the Sponsor's Proposed Project includes:

 
Relocate Runway 11R/29L 450' to the southwest and construct it to a total length of 8,200 feet;
 
Convert the existing GA runway into Taxiway B;
 
Construct angled "high speed" exits at Taxiways D, A6, A11, and A13;
 
Construct new connecting taxiways at the proposed Runway 11R and 29L ends;;
 
Install an Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Medium Intensity Approach Lighting System with Runway Alignment Indicator lights (MALSR) on proposed Runway 11R.
