The FAA and its EIS Contractor are currently preparing the Draft EIS for the proposed developments at the Tucson International Airport. Specific components underway include the Purpose & Need and Alternatives Chapters, as well as various technical analyses for the EIS.

Public Outreach
Public involvement is a crucial component of the federal EIS process. The four (4) main objectives of the Public Outreach initiatives for the EIS are as follows:
1.
Obtain necessary public input as required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process;
2.
Obtain specific insight necessary to conduct a thorough and accurate environmental analysis;
3.
Educate and inform the public as to the details of the project;
4.
Establish the credibility of the decision making process.
The first public outreach opportunity was the Public Scoping Meeting which was held on November 15, 2005.
